60.3% of Voters Do Not Trust the TURKSTAT’s Inflation Rate
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) announced the inflation rate for March as 16.7. 72.1% of the voters think that inflation is higher than the TURKSTAT announcement.
TURKSTAT, which announced the March 2021 inflation rate of 16.7, was heavily criticized by economists. Stating that the inflation of the street is different, economists pointed out that the data of the TURKSTAT do not reflect the truth.
Turkey Monitor asked voters about the inflation they feel. 72.1% of the voters stated that the inflation is much higher/higher than that announced by the TURKSTAT. 19.7% of voters thought that inflation was as announced by the TURKSTAT.
Due to the criticisms made to the TURKSTAT, the confidence of the voters in the inflation data was examined. 60.3% of the voters stated that they did not trust the inflation data of the TURKSTAT, evaluating it below 5 points. The rate of those who expressed their confidence in the TURKSTAT inflation data by evaluating it above 5 points was 22.8%.
