Ther Rector of Bogazici University Couldn’t Stand the Protests

The Rector of Bogazici University Melih Bulu was dismissed by president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Most voters think that the protests of the university academicians and students are the reason for his dismissal.

The appointment of Melih Bulu as a rector of Bogazici University, which is one of the oldest and best universities in Turkey, caused a big protest by the university students. The central government saw the protest as the Gezi-Park protest targeting the government. However, 61.4% of voters see the Bogazici protest as against the rector appointment.

The main critics in the protest were about the harsh police response to university students. However, the central government accepts the protests against itself, did not back down and stop intervention.

The cause of the protests Rector Melih Bulu was dismissed by president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkey Monitor asked voters the reason for the dismissal of Melih Bulu. 45.7% of voters see dismissal as a success of Bogazici University’s academicians and students while 15.7% think that opposition parties’ objections caused the dismissal. The rate of voters who think that president Recep Tayyip Erdogan dismissed Melih Bulu because of his failure is 38.6%.
