HÜRRİYET: A Striking Research about Syria

The Economists Platform in cooperation with Aksoy Marketing and Public Research did a research to find out people’s opinions in Turkey about the latest events in Syria.

The very first question directed to the participants was “What describes the best the events in Syria?” 61%  said the events in Syria are massacres, 18% said clashes are caused by civil wars, 9% stated that they are sect clashes, 2% of them said the events are triggered by external forces.

Another question was “What kind of a way should developed countries, NATO, UN and other international associations follow?” 64% of the participants stated that the conflicts should be resolved by diplomatic methods, 15,7% said military interventions are necessary and 9,9% of the participants said a limited intervention is required.

HOW SHOULD TURKEY REACT?

Participants were asked how should Turkey react to the events in Syria. While 32,6% of the participants answered the question as diplomatic methods should be used, 29% said Turkey definitely should avoid from a military intervention. And while 19,3& said international unions’ decisions should be followed, 7% stated that Turkey should intervene.

43% of the participants said a possible Syrian War may trigger the 3rd World War, 12% said it will definitely trigger a world war and 29% said it will not trigger a world war.
